I'll be leading an afternoon workshop on Friday, giving a talk on Saturday, and otherwise enjoying the beautiful island and the festival. More details to come. (Image courtesy of Happy Photos, Flickr Creative Commons, Oct. 2, 2004, some rights reserved.)
I'll be teaching two workshops: "The How of Where: Place as Character in Fiction and Nonfiction," from June 17 - 18 and "Structural Workout for your Novel-in-Progress," from June 18 - 23. To read full class descriptions, go to the Iowa Summer Writing Festival website. (Image courtesy of keeva999, Flickr Creative Commons, October 10, 2011, some rights reserved).
Partners in crime Karen Shoemaker and Allen Gee will join me on a lively panel, "Writing About Place: Growing Where We're Planted" at the Southeast Wisconsin Book Festival from 1 - 2 p.m. Later, at 4, we'll join a conversation with several other writers about Harper Lee's classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird.
